Session II

I recently had the great pleasure of interviewing this confident , positive and intelligent young lady, Miss Simone Farrell, winner of The University Of South Florida`s (USF) Cultural Pageant held earlier this month. The ensuing is my conversation with Miss International 2010!!!!

Iris - for My Montserat & Strats Finest

My Montserrat:

Simone, welcome to My Montserrat. Introduce yourself to the fans, tell us a little about yourself and your relationship/connection to Montserrat?

Simone:
I am 18 years old. I graduated from Liberty High School in Poinciana,FL. at the age of 16 and was third in my graduating class. I decided to further my education at the University of South Florida and I am currently a sophomore there. I absolutely love to sing and dance, so entertaining people is a deep passion of mine. My mother and father, Eleanor Farrell and Dwayne Riley, were both born in Montserrat, so my entire family comes from Montserrat.

My Montserrat:
We are now aware of your success in winning "Miss International" 2010.
Tell us a little bit about your academic success and future aspiratons.

Simone:
I am actually doing extremely well in school. I have always been very studious. I had a 4.0 gpa last semester and I am currently on the Dean's List for my academic success. I am also a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars because I am in the top 20 percentile at USF. My future aspirations are to entertain people through music and I hope to become a successful lawyer.

My Montserrat:
Are you considering or would you be interested in representing Montserrat on a higher circuit?

Simone:
I would love to represent Montserrat on a higher circuit. Montserrat was an unknown island to the majority of people who attended the pageant and I feel that I was really able to give people a glimpse of who we are and what we are about. I can really see the impact I have had and how proud people are of my achievement and I would love to continue the movement.

My Montserrat:
Can u tell us what is was like when you realized that you were in fact the winner of this pageant?

Simone:
I worked hard on all components of the pageant, so when I realized I had won I felt truly blessed. My family and friends were ecstatic and I think that brought me the most joy. It was one of the greatest experiences I have ever had in my life.

My Montserrat:
Finally, what advice would you give to young people aspiring to be future "Simones"?

Simone:
I would tell them to always strive to bring their dreams to a reality. Life can be hard and it is definitely going to have its rough times but at the end of each day you know where your heart is. Make each day count by doing something that will bring you a little closer to your goal. FEEL IT. LOVE IT. LIVE IT. I have dreams so much bigger than me and at times I can't even fathom what it would be like to achieve it but I transformed my dreams into my existence and I live for the triumph at the end of the road.

My Montserrat:
It was an absolute pleasure Simone. I'm sure I speak for all the fans here at My Montserrat and Strats Finest, in saying that we hope you achieve all of your goals, you have made the Island of Montserrat extremely proud and we are all rooting for you.

Simone:
Thank you very much.
